Kennel Club Stud Book 3972CL
Photo at 7 years - by Sirpa Huusari
"Will" was born on November 13th, 1998.
He was named after my favourite playwright, William Shakespeare,
hoping that he'll have similar success in the world's stages.
Already as a small puppy he looked to be full of quality both in style and temperament.
My hopes were fulfilled when he started his show career:
he was awarded Best Puppy In Show prize in the first two shows he attended,
ending up with Best Puppy In Show prizes in four different countries!
He got his first CAC in Finland at the age of 9½ months.
But what was most important to me was
that he was praised for his structure and temperament
- two basic building blocks for a true cocker.
At the age of 20 months he got his first German CAC, combined with Club-CAC
given to the best dog out of open, working and champion class winners.
A month later he got his second Finnish CAC, was twice Best of Breed,
crowning one BOB with Best In Group 2 placement.
In 2000 he got his third & last Finnish CAC, but he's not
Finnish Champion, having not passed the working test.
In the test he fetched from the water everything else except
the official dummy, so the judge just could not let him pass ;-)

Will was the first Finnish-bred cocker spaniel to travel to England
under the Pet Passport Scheme and to take part in a Championship show
- the London Cocker Spaniel Society Ch show in December 2000.
He was placed second in his first class, Special Open Black/Black&Tan,
and got a VHC (very highly commended) in the Any colour Open.

In later shows in the UK he did extremely well,
getting a Kennel Club Stud Book number and thus qualifying
for Crufts for life in his third appearance in the UK show rings.
It was fitting that it was again the London Cocker Spaniel Ch show -
in December 2001,
almost exactly a year from our first UK show.
